Salty Tunes

When the Karlsruhe daily newspaper BNN recently featured the distinctive style of the Karlsruhe band Salty Tunes.

When she described the album as "Classical, jazz, and pop create a new sound," she hit the nail on the head. The band's highlight is the unique compositions of band member and pianist Daniel Salzmann. He takes melodies from well-known classical works, enriches them with elements of pop, funk, and jazz, reharmonizes, and reinterprets them. In doing so, he gives the band freedom and room for improvisation. This creates a new, refreshing sound: sometimes funky, sometimes jazzy, sometimes swinging.

The musicians met at the Ettlingen Castle Festival in 2022, so they have a special connection to our city. Bassist Paul Cervenec works at the Karlsruhe University of Music, where his bandmates Daniel Salzmann (piano), Tim Brucker (drums), and Leon Winkler (saxophone) are studying. In addition to arrangements of well-known classical pieces, the audience can also look forward to new, original compositions that reflect the band's prolific creative process. Admission is free, but donations for the band are welcome. Lineup: Daniel Salzmann (piano), Leon Winkler (saxophone), Paul Cervenec (bass), Tim Brucker (drums).
